Applications of Silicon Carbide Plates

Our sintered SiC plates are suitable for a wide range of high-temperature and wear-resistant applications:

  • Iron and Steel Smelting — Withstands up to 1550°C with high thermal shock resistance, reducing downtime from thermal cycling failures.
  • Kiln Shelves and Furniture — Resists thermal shock and erosion, maintaining flatness over multiple firing cycles and extending service life.
  • Feeding Systems — Handles abrasive materials with high wear resistance, reducing system wear and lowering maintenance costs.
  • Spray Nozzles and Shot Blast Nozzles — Dense structure (low porosity) provides chemical resistance and extends nozzle life in abrasive media applications.

Why Silicon Carbide vs Alumina or Zirconia?

  • Higher thermal conductivity (110 W/m·K vs 25-30 W/m·K for alumina) — faster heat dissipation, cooler operation
  • Higher hardness — better wear resistance in abrasive environments
  • Lower thermal expansion — better thermal shock resistance
  • Lower density than tungsten carbide — lighter weight for armor and structural components

Product Variants

Advanced Ceramic Materials (ACM) offers a range of silicon carbide plates, including:

  • Sintered Silicon Carbide Plates: Known for their high mechanical strength and thermal stability.
  • Reaction-Bonded SiC Plates: Combining the benefits of high strength with versatile applications.
  • Recrystallized SiC Plates: Featuring exceptional purity and excellent thermal properties.

Choose the right SiC grade for your application:

Recrystallized grades prioritize purity (99.5%) over mechanical strength, making them suitable for high-temperature applications where contamination is a concern.
