Boron nitride blank is made of boron nitride ceramic — a chemical compound with equal numbers of boron and nitrogen atoms. The hexagonal form (HBN) corresponding to graphite is the softest and most stable form among BN polymorphs, and is therefore used as a lubricant and an additive to cosmetic products. The cubic (CBN) variety analogous to diamond has a high hardness which is inferior only to diamond. The rare wurtzite BN (WBN) modification is similar to lonsdaleite, and it may even be harder than CBN.

High purity BN could withstand higher temperatures in a vacuum than lower purity enhanced BN products. Although we usually claim the maximum working temperature as 2500C, there’s a record to use our material at 3000+ C. Due to the low wettability with metals, boron nitride is an ideal material for metal melting works, especially for high purity material metal in a vacuum.
